RIMA AWARDS 2012; Check out the winners.

The records and information management awards, RIMA, took place yesterday, November 3rd at the Darlington hall, Industrial Estate, Ilupeju, Lagos. The hall was filled with nominees, guests and a lot of entertainers who entertained with wonderful musical performances, chorography and comedy. RIMA awards, organised each year, recognises and awards outstanding service providers in the information management industry. According to Oyedokun Oyewole, president, RIMA Foundation, the objective of the award is in line with the purpose for which RIMA foundation was established which is creating awareness. The information management industry is an industry that has the potential of creating about 200 jobs in Nigeria.

Invariably, RIMA is encouraging organisations to know the various roles/discipline available and equally contribute to the society by employing people in those disciplines that have been identified. For instance, the document control is a discipline that creates an easy entry to the oil and gas industry today. Hitherto, organisations bring in expatriates to do the job because they are limited people with the skill in Nigeria. Furthermore, every awareness created by the awards is to create business opportunities for each service provider/stakeholders in the industry. It is therefore very important for there to be stronger collaboration and partnership between RIMA awards and all service provider/stakeholders in the industry. Such interaction will boost and hasten the much needed growth and development the industry desires. These are the categories and winners of the award;
