STAR LAGER BEER LAUNCHES MOBILE APPLICATION IN LAGOS

Nigerian Breweries, makers of Star Lager beer, popularly referred to as ‘The people’s beer’ or ‘Shine shine bobo’, has announced the launch of a first-of-its-kind mobile application called Star Music.

The formal launch, which held yesterday, February 27, at the Civic Center, Victoria Island Lagos, drew the crème of the entertainment industry as they came out in mass to witness the arrival of Star Music.

The ‘Digital’ event also provided guests a first -hand view of the new mobile service through a facility demonstration of the application.

Walter Drenth, Nigerian Breweries’ Marketing Director, noted that Star Music is a culmination of years of careful planning and research as the company sought out ways to continually engage its consumers. “At Star, we’ve always believed that our consumers are truly at the core of our business. We are very excited by the introduction of our new mobile application and see it as one of the many ways we have chosen to positively engage music consumers in Nigeria.”

“Star Music is a two-way interactive App that will completely change the way consumers experience music from now on. We’re partnering with some of the biggest names in entertainment MTV BASE and Nigerian Entertainment Today - so users can watch videos, stream and download their favourite songs, create their own playlists, enjoy breaking news on their favourite stars while interacting and sharing the fun with each other. Of course there’ll be so much more to offer as well so consumers can always look forward to each new day with Star Music,” he added.

Star Music is available on several mobile operating systems, including Android, Java, Blackberry, iPhone, iPAD and Google Play; as well as on a dedicated mobile site.

 

 

YOU MUST GET A DEGREE! DAVIDO’S FATHER INSISTS

Education is the best legacy they say, thus, every parent strives to ensure that their child gets education at all cost, so is Nigerian billionaire businessman Deji Adeleke who seems hell bent on seeing one of his sons David ‘Davido’ Adeleke getting a university degree. 

The last two years have been a handful for Davido as he did not only make a very successful debut in the Nigerian music scene but accelerated to the A-list spot. 

He’s released a debut album with chart topping singles, won international awards and his music is highly rated home and abroad.

Despite these achievements, Davido’s father insists that his beloved son gets a university education.

And to make that happen, he has reportedly built an entire department at Babcock University (where he is currently a provost) for Creative Arts which will have Davido and his manager Kamal as the only students for now.

We’re told he has also dedicated a car which takes the boys to and from school as they work to combine academic commitments with showbiz.

Davido and Kamal (who had to go back to school because of Davido’s father’s insistence) are using the opportunity to bond, a source tells us.

It is also likely his celebrity cousins Bayo ‘B.Red’ and Sina ‘Sinarambo’ Adeleke will be joining them soon.

‘Davido’s dad believes a lot in his music and HKN. He thinks David can take it to the next level but he also feels education is compulsory foundation for his son’, a source to the family tells us.

We learn he has been helping to put up necessary structures that’ll ensure the boys don’t mess things up. For starters, Mr Adeleke insists on meeting with everyone working with his son.

And the young pop star has so far been co-operative.

Davido’s mother Vera, an academic, was until her death in 2003, a lecturer at Babcock University.

NGOZI NWOSU FLOWN TO THE UK FOR HEART AND KIDNEY TREATMENT

It’s been more than a month now since Governor Fashola of Lagos state and friends of ailing actress Ngozi Nwosu came to the rescue as Ngozi battled to raise six million naira to undergo a much needed treatment abroad to stop a rampaging heart and kidney disease (Ngozi Flies off to Germany for Heart Treatment). The good news is that Ngozi Nwosu has now flown to the UK to begin her treatment in earnest.

Since early last year, the Fuji house of commotion troublesome wife and ace actress, Ngozi Nwosu, has been a shadow of herself as she continued to emaciate following her body’s on-going battle against undisclosed heart and kidney related ailments, her friends in the industry panicked and raised money needed for her treatments but even their efforts were not enough until Governor Fashola stepped in.

The governor donated 4.5 million naira after reportedly reading of her ailment in a publication. Another 2 million was raised by her friends and corporate organisations who donated their widow’s mite to the distress call. Nwosu had been temporarily delayed because her doctors in Nigeria took time to prepare her referrals to her hospital in UK. As soon as it was ready, Ngozi took the next available flight out of the country.

Since the story of her medical condition broke, her fans have continued to pour out their hearts to her in prayers and in kind words and with unshaken hope that she will come back to them again hale and hearty.

MODELLING TRAINING INSTITUTE FOR ALL MODELS

Applehouse Modelling agency, Ability Models and 2eyes Models jointly established a reputable training institute for all models who wish to take their modelling career to the next level.
 

The first edition of the training programme kicked off recently, with the attendance of top models and celebrities.

The training classes are expected to run on the 1st & 3rd Sundays of every month. Classes have already been taken for the month of February and models anxiously wait for the subsequent months.   

On February 3, some super models came to share their success story with the models. These are models like; Ajibade Gbenro Emmanuel (Soji of Tinsel), Nancy Efe Isime, Crozz and Tony Soares.

The training courses were headed by Ability Unwene, CEO of Ability Models. 

In addition, Mr Tony Wyse of (Wyse Model management) lectured the models the different aspects of modelling and how to excel in the career.  Patrick Elis was also in the class to brief the models on what video directors expect from models during shoot.

On February 17,  the second class for the month, Angel Makeover attended the training to tutor models on the importance of flawless makeups on runway and out of runway.

Mr Edwin Ileaboya, a fitness instructor lectured on body fitness and wellbeing.

Furthermore, Mr Gabriel Nwabueze, marketing manager of Techno Mobile & an Ex-Super Model shared his success story on modelling and how he achieved fame in the profession. 

At the end of the class, all the models practiced catwalk and how to introduce themselves on set.  It was really a full packaged training as nothing was left untouched.

The training program was supported by Beerich Makeover & Studios.

GOLDIE BIDS HER LAST GOODBYE

The remains of former Big Brother Africa housemate, Goldie has been buried. She was laid to rest on Monday at Vaults and Garden cemetery Ikoyi. Goldie died on 14 February 2013, the day she arrived from America after attending Grammy awards.

Autopsy report shows that Goldie died of hypertensive heart disease.The burial was a private affair with few friends and family members in attendance.

Goldie’s husband,Andrew Harvey was at the ceremony.He also paid tribute to his departed wife.

the world finally blinked its last sight on this drama queen  that thrilled the many hearts with her out of the word fashion and style.Adieu beloved.

 The Nigerian entertainment industry has been thrown into mourning a second time in barely one week. Justus Esiri lost his battle with diabetes in the early hours of Wednesday in a Lagos Hospital.

According to Deadline, Beyoncé pulled in about 100 million U.S. viewers on Sunday evening, quite a considerable feat, to be sure. But the number looks a little less impressive when one considers that in 2012, 116 million tuned in to watch Madonna stalk around awkwardly in too-tall stilettos and a cheerleader outfit. There are, of course, other factors than Beyoncé's pull at play here: This year's game was slightly less popular than the last, and the way the first half went down (i.e. the Niners getting their tails handed to them) didn't help matters.
