Ngozi Nwosu @ 50

It was a gathering of the creme d'la creme as celebrities from all walks of life gathered at Eagles Park, Ikeja Lagos, to witness the 50th birthday bash of Ngozi Nwosu, ace Nollywood actress and lead character of the Fugi House of Commotion, popular comedy TV series. Nwosu was ravaging with smiles as her occasion was graced by celebrities such as Ibinabo Fiberesima, the AGN president, Segun Arinze, Former AGN president, Osuji Emelda Ahunna, Founder, Women and Modesty Global Initiatives, Bukky Ajayi, Actress (yoruba genre), Charles Novia, Nollywood Actor, Olu Akinlami, Producer, Who wants to be a millionaire, Gbenga Adeyinka, Ace comedian, and hosts of others.
The celebration is a three-day event which kicked off yesterday with a symposium. The tittle of the lecture was ''Keeping Our Veterans Alive''. Day 2 is tagged Owanbe Day while the grand event is tagged Lets Go Oldschool, taking place at The Prince of Anthony Hotel, Anthony village.

After the opening prayer, a brief speech was given by Oluwaseun Oloketuyi, Editor, Best of Nollywood magazine, Oloketuyi thanked everyone present. According to him, the birthday bash was to welcome Nwosu back into the movie industry. 'We are grateful to God for the life of dear sister whom just recovered from a strange illness which almost claimed her from us'', he said. After that, the AGN President, Fiberesima, gave a speech about her proposed Healthcare Scheme for Actors.
According to her, it is a sad thing that there is no healthcare development system in the entertainment industry, thus, anytime there is an health issue, the industry begs for alms, this is too sad. She went further stating how she intend to make this plan achievable. She also spoke about the HMO (Health Maintenance Organisation) Package and the lackadaisal attitude of actors towards the plans. Amidst this, she gladly said her dreams and visions has began to manifest. AGN has conducted free medical screenings in more than 16 States and more are still ongoing. Also,she advised everyone present not to take their heath for granted. "Just as we are all gathered here to thank God for sparing the life of our dear sister, we should also strive to maintain a healthy lifestyle.....many things we need in life can wait but heath cannot", she said. She did not fail to express her dissatisfaction over the poor turn-out as some celebrities did not turn up.

After this phase, the main agenda of the day was discussed, the lecture 'keeping OurVeterans Alive' was delivered by Dr Okewale of St. Ives Hospital. Dr Okewale appreciated Nwosu for her comic roles in movies, according to him, this has brought laughter to many homes. He however expressed his sadness for some Nollywood Icons who have passed through almost similar illness with Nwosu but couldn't survive it. ''Ngozi's progress is a sweet respite from the tragic death that has afflicted many Nollywood veterans especially in the last two years'', he said.

He highlighted some challenges that can affect the life expectancy of a celebrity, these are: Ageing, Lifestyle, Seeking medical care late and Societal demands/expectations. Okewale went further suggesting ways on how to keep veterans alive. These are: Living a heathy lifestyle, Establishment of a Heath intervention fund, Organising health  seminars, presence of a medical personnel in every production set, actors should not shoulder huge responsibilities. Lastly and more importantly, every celebrities should recognize himself/herself as first, a human being and must as such have regular medical check ups. Olumide Akinlabi gave kudos to Oloketuyi for Organising the event, he then advised all Nollywood actors to be conscious of their health at all times ''don't wait until you are knocked down completely before you start seeking medication attention, people who live in glass houses don't throw stones, actors are role models, health is wealth''.  A brief speech was also given by Segun Arinze and Charles Novia.

Then it was time for the celebrate to cut her cake. Friends and loved ones surrounded her, wished her a happy birthday as she cuts her cake with so much delight. She fed everyone by her side. She couldn't count her blessings as the media struggled to take her shots and interviews.
When asked if she is fit to go on set, she said "I'm hale and hearty". The event was powered by Oluwaseun Oloketuyi, Editor, Best of Nollywood Magazine.
